Wrote & Despatched a Note to London for Paper. 4th. Printed 50 Bills for the Western Stage. 5th. Despatched 50 Cards to Dr. Nellis, Sparta. 30th. 5th. Printed 50 of 1/8 Bills for Ebenezer Phillips, Shoemaker 4 miles E. of St. Thomas, about a Stray Mare. 31st. July 1850. 4. Called on business at Mr. Moore's. Paid him $10 U.S. & $1. Spanish. 5. Got a No. of subscribers for the Liberal. August 1st., 1850. 3d. Sought after Subscribers; Cullaiton at Paul's place &c. Obtained several. 3d. August 1850. 3d. Got some subscribers. 4th. Printed 50 of 1/8 Bills for Mr. John Campbell, Port Stanley. 5th. 3d. Recd. An order for 25 of 1/8 Bills from Mr. R. Luke. 4th. Despatched per Mr. Thomson of the N.A. Hotel, Mr. John Campbell's Bills. 9. Made the Rolling work of 240 copies of the Western Liberal. 7th. 1st. Adjusted Proof Sheet of our Paper published today. 2d. Margary J. & myself were engaged in pulling the paper off the Press. 3d. Despatched the papers in various directions. 8th. 3d. Printed 54 of 1/12 Bills for Mr. S. Netherclift. 9th Augt. 1850. 1st. In the Office finished 150 of 1/4 Bills for Turville's Estate per Mr. Netherclift. My dear Margary did the composition work. 2d. Put off the Press also 100 hand Bills for a Mr. Freeman (Dr.). 12th. 2d. Attended business at the Office - Distributed Type. With Margary J. I printed 100 of 1/8 Posters of 50 each for G.R. Williams, Port Stanley. 3d. Got the first side of our paper off the Press. 13 August 1850. 2d. Wrote an article on News Paper patronage. 3d. Do. Do. On Harvest & present aspect. 4. Do. On the decease of Andrew Davis, 10 Inst. 5th. Wrote on sundry subjects viz. Locl Weather, Harvest &c. 14th August 1850. 2d. In the office Margary set up a Qr. Poster for a Mr. Shere of V. Stakes, 100 copies. 3d. Despatched the above 100 posters to Mr. Shere to V. Stakes per Mr. Labatt, of London. 5th. Mr. Cullaiton brought a young man a Printer to Tea & lodged in the House all night. 15th August 1850. 3d. Got No. 2 of the Western Liberal despatched to subscribers. 7th. Heard of a great fire being in London at 4 A.M. burnt the Western block &c. 16th. 2d. Recd. An order from M. McKenzie for a Bill for the Agricultural Society. 3d. After dinner awhile I proceeded to London to buy Paper. Walked agreeably to near cousin J. Sutherland's, then entered a Carriage with Mr. Hyman & be a pleasant ride I arrived at my friends 8 ½ P.M. or so.... 17 Augt. 1850. 1st. After breakfast I viewed the ruins occasioned to the N.W. end of Dundas street. 3d. Bought paper in two places. 4th. Sought for a conveyance home, but did not find any.
